Amtrak train collides with car, 5 dead

At around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, an Amtrak train collided with a car in Wayne County, Michigan, about 20 miles west of Detroit.

There were no reports of serious injury among the passengers on the train, but all five passengers in the car were killed.

Canton Township Police Sgt. Craig Wilsher said the train did not derail and remains upright.

According to one report, all of the passengers in the car may have been teenagers. CBS Radio WWJ also reports the driver may have driven around the protective gate to try and beat the train across the tracks.
