The father of Sarah Palin’s grandchild, Tripp, is telling the media she resigned as Alaska’s governor for lucrative opportunities being offered.

Levi Johnston, 19, whose former fiancé is Palin’s daughter Bristol, claims he heard the governor say she wished she could take advantage of the deals being thrown at her feet—including a book deal and a reality show.

“She had talked about how nice it would be to take some of this money people had been offering us and you know, just run with it…say ‘forget everything else,’” said Johnston.

Johnston and Bristol’s marriage was called off in early 2009, but prior to that Johnston said he lived with the Palin family for several months.

Johnston said, “I think the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars.” When asked if he would vote for Palin for president, he said, “I think she’s a great lady, but after seeing what she did now, you know, leaving Alaska, I would have to say, ‘no.’ Obviously she’s stressed out as governor. I mean moving up to the vice president or president is huge. I just don’t think anymore that she’s cut out for the job.”

His attorney, Rex Butler, said Johnston came forward because he wanted to let Alaskans know why Palin resigned as their governor. Johnston is also working on a book deal.

Meghan Stapleton, a spokesperson for Palin told the Associated Press in an email, “It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills.”
