Michael Jackson’s will was filed in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday, giving his estate to a family trust and making his mother, Katherine, the guardian of his children. The will is dated July 7, 2002, and at that time his estate was estimated to be worth over $500 million.
The Associated Press reported that cut out of the will was Jackson’s former wife, Debbie Rowe, who is the mother of Jackson’s two eldest children, Michael Joseph, Jr., 12, and Paris Michael Katherine, 11.
Singer, Diana Ross, is also named in the will as a successor guardian for Jackson’s children, should anything happen to Katherine. Ross was instrumental in launching the career of Jackson and his brother’s.
John McClain, a music executive, and John Branca, Jackson’s attorney, are named as co-executors.
They released a statement saying, “The most important element of Michael’s will is his unwavering desire that his mother, Katherine, become the legal guardian for his three children. As we work to carry out Michael’s instructions to safeguard both the future of his children as well as the remarkable legacy he left us as an artist we ask that all matters involving his estate be handled with the dignity and the respect that Michael and his family deserve.”

McClain and Branca moved to take control of all of Jackson’s property and challenged a prior ruling giving Katherine control of 2,000 items from Jackson’s Los Olivos, Calif. property, Neverland.
Katherine will retain control over the items until both sides meet at a hearing set for Monday.
