Anthony Sowell case: Accused Cleveland serial killer indicted on 85 counts including rape and murder
On Tuesday, a grand jury indicted Anthony Sowell on a total of 85 counts, including kidnapping, rape, felonious assault charges, attempted murder, and aggravated murder.
The suspected serial killer was arrested on Oct. 31 police discovered several decomposing bodies at his Cleveland home, while investigating an accusation of rape against Sowell, 50.
After a thorough search, 11 victims were recovered at Sowell’s home. The coroner determined that most of the victims were killed by strangulation.

Ten of those found have been identified as Tonia Carmichael, 52; Nancy Cobbs, 45; Tishana Culver, 31; Crystal Dozier, 38; Telacia Fortson, 31; Amelda Hunter, 47; Michelle Mason, 45; Kim Yvette Smith, 44; Janice Webb, 49; and Leshanda Long, 25.
The Plain Dealer reports that Sowell is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. He is being held on $6 million bond.
A news conference regarding the case is expected to take place later this afternoon.
