Hurricane watch issued for Mississippi, Alabama, Florida as Ida heads toward U.S.

Hurricane Ida has become a category two storm and has already wrought death and destruction in El Salvador and Nicaragua.

The storm is currently about 100 miles north-northeast of Cozumel, Mex. And is moving at about 10 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

In the U.S., a hurricane watch has been issued for the area east of the Mississippi-Alabama border through the northwest area of Florida, reports the NHC.
