For over twenty years, Oprah Winfrey, 55, has been a constant force in daytime television. She has inspired and changed the lives of many, while entertaining viewers with intriguing, interesting, and sometimes controversial guests.
Oprah announced this week that she will end ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ in late 2011, but she won't actually be leaving show business.
According to The Boston Globe, Oprah will have a new expanded platform on her 24-hour cable channel named OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network).
The new network is expected to launch in January 2011 and will feature programs shaped by the talk show maven, but she is not expected to have her own show, according to the Globe. OWN is a joint venture with Discovery Communications and the Daily Herald will replace the Discovery Health Channel.
