Last week, President Barack Obama signed a federal law offering more protection for the gay community, by making it a federal hate crime to assault anyone who may be gay, lesbian, or transgender.
The president also announced the travel and immigration ban on those with HIV would be lifted by Monday.
In addition, he signed a bill on Friday that would extend the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program that provides medical care and support to hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Nonetheless, there appears to be some that still question whether this legislation is enough to fulfill promises the Obama administration has made regarding such issues.
Jarrett Barrios, the president of GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), appeared on CNN to discuss the strides made in the current administration regarding such laws, and the deficits that still exist.
