For years Unilever's Axe brand has reached its core male demographic the best way it knows how: sex.
And who would blame them? It's the oldest adage there is: sex sells. In tribute to the sexy, tantalizing, tongue-in-cheek ads that their agency of record, Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), has created for this ultra sexy brand, below are the top 5 "bom chicka wah wah" Axe/Lynx commercials.
1. Dinner Party
A father from another country comes to visit his son and girlfriend for a dinner party. As the gentleman excuses himself and goes to the bathroom, he finds his son's Lynx body spray and helps himself. Upon returning, his son's girlfriend sings the catchy "bom chicka wah wah" jingle and rips his clothes apart. The dad exclaims "I love this country!"
2. Supermarket
An attractive woman enters into a supermarket, pushing along her elderly grandmother in a wheelchair. Catching a wiff of the young grocery store employee's Axe fragrance, she wheels granny off to oblivion, and starts to seduce said hunk with menacing "bom chicka wah wah" calls. Girating her hips while continuing to engulf him in her mating call, the spot segues into it's USP "Now with more bom chicka wah wah."
3. Dentist
While awaiting for her dentist appointment to begin, an attractive woman sitting on the dentist chair is caught off guard when the good-looking dentist walks into the room, enveloping her in Lynx fragrance. With cotton balls in her mouth, she manages to sing "bom chicka wah wah" but then spits the balls out, only to place them again sexually into her mouth.
4. Teacher
An instructor teaching English to a class of non-English speakers is interrupted in her flash-card session when an attractive young man enters the classroom. Instead of having the class repeat "cat" she unintentionally, and very hilariously, says "bom chicka wah wah" instead, in which the class repeats confusedly.
5. Paris
A young woman is seen preparing for a date, with romantic music playing in the backgroun. From the selection of lingerie, to the perfect dress and shoes, she is finally seen walking to meet her expecting date. As she finally spots him in the restaurant, she walks towards him and is caught off guard when an innocent waiter, apparently exuding his Axe fragrance, comes within sniffing distance. As her senses get the better part of her, she stares at him in a sexual manner, and grabs his arse while singing "bom chicka wah wah" and backing away engagedly.The spot ends with her feeling awkard, and Axe plugging it's "Improved Frances" with added "bom chicka wah wah."
