Only 5 days until the kick off of the annual book event built around the premise to join lovers of books with those who write them.
The Vegas Valley Book Festival kicks off Wednesday at the historic Fifth Street School with "The Art of Presentation" Aaron Betsky.
The big event you should plan for is First Friday Nov. 6 in The Arts District. Jarret Keene and Claudia Keelan host the Spoken Word Celebration. Local attorney and longtime writer Dayvid Figler opens the evening with haiku poems.
Take a lunch Saturday and make sure to check out all the authors involved. Some highlights include a 1:45 p.m. panel with local authors John L. Smith, Douglas Unger and Cheryll Glotfelty for "City of Second Chances"; Vicki Pettersson, Margaret Coel and Indu Sundaresan at 11:15 a.m. for Book Clubs Select and stick around for the 1:45 p.m. "Beyond Twilight and True Blood" workshop by Pettersson.
The five-day festival is filled with educational, inspiring and family friendly events.
