We hear a lot about separation of church and state. This is a factor which is worthy and constitutional. But! It has been abused and misrepresented by many, including liberal politicians, atheists and any others who are opposed to submitting themselves to an almighty God. The terminology is not found in the constitution. It only declares that congress will not enact any laws against any religion or the free exercise thereof. That does carry the inference that the state will not be controlled by any religion. But on the other hand, It does carry, not only an implication, but a direct statement that the state cannot hinder anyone in their performance of worship.

It does not, however, give permission for any religion to be forced upon others. One can even understand those who object to having to listen to one religion or the other at a public gathering. Yet it is more difficult to understand why one would object to hearing a short or normal length prayer which invokes the name of Jesus Christ or Jehovah God. Why should that offend? If one attended a gathering of a majority of Muslims, or Hindus, he would expect to hear any reference they might make to their specific religion. And neither should they take them to court over it.

But our liberal politicians and activist judges have seen fit to condemn all mention of God or Jesus Christ, or to reference the Bible at public gatherings of any kind, school, sports assemblies, ceremonies of a public nature, and so on. This has much deeper implications than is immediately apparent. Due to the economic times we live in, and have now for a number of years, our children spend much more time in school and with hired sitters or attendants than with their parents. So, they are growing up with a minimal exposure to God’s word, or the teachings of Jesus Christ. This is a crucial mistake.

It not only will cause many of these young souls to wind up spending eternity in everlasting torment, but it also causes our society to depreciate. Church attendance in almost all religions, is down and continuing to drop. Needless to say, immorality and crime is escalating while more and more people are departing from living the Christian life. As people grow more unconcerned, lack of morals, lack of ethics and honesty will escalate. This can only eventually lead to chaos and anarchy. But most frightening of all, is the continued speed with which we are heading in this direction. This mode of social life is self propagating, so barring some extreme intervention of some type, there seems to be no turning back.

Morality, decency, ethics and charity are attributes taught through the ages from the Holy Bible. It matters not that some would deny that and would even say these things are naturally in man. Man is now proving beyond doubt that these virtues are not in him, naturally. They are leaving him as knowledge and submission to God dwindle.

But the frightening part of all of this is the vast number of lost souls which are bound to result from this awful digression. There are more and more who are simply untaught and untrained, so therefore they do not care. But more than that, those who would be good Christian people are headed for an abyss from which there is no escape. With the direction our government is presently headed and our judges becoming more anti-Christian, the days are swiftly approaching that Christianity will be forced underground as it was during the "dark ages". Only the very strong and devout will stand up for the Lord, and they that do may be harmed, imprisoned or killed.

What can be done? Only a massive change in mankind can resolve this matter. If one professes that he is Christian...for heaven’s sake, be one. Spend much time in prayer and study of God’s word. Meditate upon it and teach those words, those virtues, to your children. No one else is going to.

Try and convince others of our predicament and of the solution, that everyone needs to turn to God. Learn to treat others with respect and compassion. Start, or start back, to attending church services. Association with others of like faith builds strength to face whatever comes, good deeds give a wonderful feeling of inner peace. "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)

"So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17)

"And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:" (2 Peter 1: 5-10)

One can make a difference in our problems, but huge numbers can work wonders.
