10AM-1PM
Meet at LA Gay & Lesbian Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza
1125 N McCadden Place
Los Angeles, CA 90038

This is the 10th Annual Trans-Unity event, the nations largest transgender pride event, sponsored by the LA Gay & Lesbian Center. This event is for all community members who wish to support and show pride in their transgender and non-gender conforming communities with a march and rally.

Other events will continue throughout this weekend. Please visit www.lagaycenter.org/transunity for details on other similar events. More Gay & Lesbian Pride Month events will be listed on my page soon!

I have a special place in my heart for the transgender community. Having attended the Trans Town Hall Meeting a few months ago, I see a great need for outreach, education, and community building. All too often, people who don’t know any better assume that “LGBT” means that all lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders get along and are in the same community. Although in a perfect world this might be the case, the reality is that these groups tend to work separately from one another, and often with animosity. (Actually, in a perfect world, we wouldn’t have to marginalize ourselves according to gender or orientation, but I digress.)

This is a wonderful opportunity to show your transgender friends, lovers, coworkers, and neighbors that you see them as real, fully actualized individuals who have the capacity for love, generosity, and understanding.
