You want to spend time with your family. That's a given.

You don't want to go out to dinner though. That will easily be $100. Taking them all to see a movie will easily put you back $50. Forget Disneyland. What is there to do that is fun for the whole family but won't break the bank?

Rest assured that there are still fun, low-cost family activities in the city of Fullerton that won't have you spending a fortune or have you driving far. Read on to learn more about these great activities!

  • The city of Fullerton's Summer Concert Series will continue until Aug. 19 at the Fullerton Sports Complex on Bastanchury Road. The Fullerton Museum Center leads a free arts and crafts booth for the whole family each week at the concerts also. You can also purchase dinner at the concerts. Cost of the concert: FREE.
  • The Fullerton Farmer's Market is also a great low-cost activity to take your family to. Not only can you purchase great produce and other items, but you can also take a reduced cost tour of the Fullerton Museum and listen to a great band. There are also kids activities, such as a trackless train and a Kid's Korner for them to romp around in. The farmer's market runs from April through October and is from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday night during those months.  Cost to enter the farmer's market: FREE.
  • Want to camp with your family but don't want it to be a huge hassle? The city of Fullerton has a great solution for you with their family campouts. Bring your tent and other necessities and the city provides the food. The city is currently offering the campouts in Aug., Sept., and Oct. at Brea Dam Recreation Area (Aug. and Oct. campouts) and Laguna Lake Park (Sept. campout). The campouts will feature fishing, hiking and campfires with s'mores all around. Plus, breakfast is provided in the morning! Who can beat that? Cost for residents (per a family of four): $60, non-residents: $66. Contact the Parks and Recreation department for more information.

Family fun does not have to cost a fortune. Have fun at one of these great activities!
