Nobody (that I could find) committed to any major schools over the Fourth of July weekend. When you think about it, it's not that surprising. Most of us spend our Independence Day weekends drunk and blowing things up. God, I love this country.
Anyways, I have some links to other stories today.
The PIAA is contemplating increasing their classifications to six. The vote is set for July 23rd. If the notion passes, it'll be put into place immediately, theoretically wreaking havoc on the schedules already in place. Honestly, I don't know what to think about this. On one hand, you could make that argument that four classifications aren't enough, as things are starting to get crowded. But on the OTHER hand, having six classifications is going to force some schools that manage to compete at the highest level (AAAA) to be downgraded to a lower level. If they've already shown that they can hang with the best, why should it matter that they don't have enough boys to qualify as a AAAAAA? Also, more importantly, AAAAAA is a pain to type, and even more of a pain to say. AAAA was easily referred to as "Quad-A"....how am I supposed to refer to AAAAAA?
Two local lacrosse players have been selected to represent Philadelphia in the National Lacrosse Classic. Well, one would assume that more than two PHILADELPHIA players have been selected to represent PHILADELHIA, but whatever.
Jawaun Wynn (Piscataway, NJ) picked up an offer from Rutgers the other day. That brings Wynn's total Division 1 offers to four. The Scarlet Knights join Temple, UConn and Boston College as schools that liked Wynn enough to offer full scholarships.
