Hamilton, Coatesville's finest, will continue to start for Detroit. (AP Photo)

It's been a pretty slow couple of weeks on the High School Sports front. That being said, there have been a couple of "newsworthy" stories.

Mike Trout, a graduate of Millville High School (Millville, NJ), signed with the Los Angeles Angels this week. Trout, the Angels' first round draft pick in last month's draft received a signing bonus of around $1.21 million. Not bad for a Jersey kid.

Hershey Walton, a 6 foot 4, 320-pound nose tackle at Reading High School committed to Temple this week. Walton is viewed as an offensive tackle at the next level.

Former Coatesville standout guard Rip Hamilton's job appears to be safe. There were rumors that Hamilton, now a member of the Detroit Pistons, might be traded after the team signed Ben Gordon to a huge 5 year deal. The general consensus now is that Hamilton will continue to start while Gordon comes off of the bench, a role that he flourished in while playing for the Chicago Bulls.

Here's an article about Malvern Prep's new lacrosse coach. Daniel Keating has some big shoes to fill, as McEvoy accomplished a lot during his tenure, including a state championship. That being said, look at Keating's resume. The Friars really couldn't have made a better hiring.

That's about it. Have a safe Fourth of July weekend.
