What does inter-faith ministry mean to you? Does it imply a willingness to build a bridge of understanding
and cooperation between various belief systems? Does your idea of inter-faith ministry welcome those
with different perspectives about the spiritual path?  Does inter-faith ministry imply inclusion and a respect for the freedom of all to express their spiritual ideas and beliefs?

For me, inter-faith ministry implies these ideas and much, much more. The inter-faith movement
in American began to gain interest in the early 1960's. Today there are inter-faith movements that work to bring about an opportunity to dialog with various religious denominations. In 2008 King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia initiated a conference of inter-faith dialog with religious leaders of different faiths such as       Christianity, Judiasm, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc., for the purpose of working towards peaceful               solutions to the conflicts in our world.  This event was hosted by King Juan Carols of Spain.

But the work of finding peaceful resolutions to the world's conflicts begins within each one of us.
How are we interacting with persons of different religious beliefs in our own communities?  Are we
taking the time to learn the philosophies of different belief systems so that we can build a bridge of mutual
respect and understanding?  Do we see God as the creator of all that is manifested in our world and at the center of all religious belief systems?

The answers to these questions and the efforts we put forth in building a bridge to a peaceful                       co-existence is the responsibility of each one of us.

Peace does begin with you and me.
