Vermont farm and museum offers visitors time travel Tuesdays, a glimpse into the 19th century
Ever wonder what it would be like to experience life before the Internet? Before cell phones? Before television?
How about stepping into the 1890s when the entertainment of the day was dominoes, tiddley winks and the stereoscope (come again??)
If you are even a wii ;) bit curious, schedule a trip to the Billings Farm & Museum in Woodstock, Vermont on a Tuesday this summer.
The museum/farm’s Time Travel Tuesdays is a program designed for children and adults to discover what it was really like to live in the 19th century -- with typical chores and pastimes to participate in the restored and furnished 1890 farm house.
The Time Travel happens every Tuesday this summer from July 7 through August 25, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Visiting families can help prepare seasonal food in the kitchen, help with laundry, copy into ledger books in the farm office, churn butter in the creamery, and other chores. There will be time to relax in the sitting room with popular pastimes of the era – dominoes, tiddley winks, and the stereoscope, plus needlework, photo albums, and games.
The cost for Time Travel Tuesday is included with regular admission to the Farm & Museum and no pre-registration is necessary. Admission prices are: adults: $11.00; 62 & over: $10.00; children 5-15: $6.00; 3-4: $3.00; 2 & under: free
The Farm & Museum is located one-half mile north of the Woodstock village green on Vermont Route 12.
