Delta and Northwest Airlines’ ‘Great Sale’ now has extended travel dates through January 15, 2010. The sale when announced was slated for travel through November 4, 2009. The additional two months of travel time includes the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years’ holidays, though space during the peak holiday travel time period does include some blackout dates.

With airfares as low as $89 each-way from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Denver, the ‘Great Sale’ is also available to many other cities across the U.S. Tickets must be purchased a minimum of 14 days in advance of departure, but no later than this coming Friday, July 3. The lowest sale fares will be found on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with other days of the week available for slightly highly prices. Tickets at the lowest sale prices are only available at www.nwa.com with purchases made via phone or at the airport being surcharged by $20-$35. Additionally, the sale prices offered do require a Saturday night stay and round-trip purchase. There is a maximum stay of 30 days or through January 15, 2010, whichever is earliest.

Specifically, black out dates are November 25 and 29; December 23, 24, 27, 30 and 31; plus January 2, 3 and 4.

Northwest’s checked baggage fees are $15 for the first bag and $25 for a second bag.
