AFAR magazine has launched this month with a focus on experiential travel rather than the standard escapism travel writing that seems to plague much of travel magazines these days.
Greg Sullivan and Joseph Diaz hatched the idea for AFAR while on a trip to India, hoping to give voice to stories that travelers with a thirst for a closer connection to the local culture would want to read. It is a step away from the advertorial saturated publications that pass for sources of travel inspiration.
Aside from the magazine, AFAR Media will also delve into television projects and books.
