Hooray for fruit!

Recently, some people have started to cut back on their intake of fruit because they think its sugars are fattening. That's crazy! You're doing yourself and your waistline a disservice if you miss out on your recommended two servings of fruit a day.

Here are just a few reasons you should be stocking up on fruit:

  • It will help you lose weight. Fruit is low in calories and packed with water and fiber, which fill you up and keep you satisfied for longer so you don't overeat. In fact, research shows that people who eat fruit every day have lower BMIs that those who don't.
  • Fruit is packed full of nutrients. As you probably know, fruit contains natural sugar, but it's balanced by essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Make sure you eat a wide variety of fruits to get the largest benefits of these nutrients.
  • It's versatile and easy to eat. Fruit is easily consumed whole as a snack or mixed into a smoothie. It can also compliment main dishes, like meat and fish, as well as desserts.
