In the heart of North Beach, you will find the longest running musical revue celebrating its 35th anniversary. And this revue was originally slated to run for only six weeks. Beach Blanket Babylon has become a tradition of ‘things to see while visiting San Francisco’ for tourists and locals, due to its unique costumes, larger then life ‘Vegas show girl’ hats and satirical songs.

Over the years, this show has made its home at the Club Fugazi in North Beach and was honored when the street was named “Beach Blanket Babylon Boulevard”. Audience members enjoy, “Forgetting about life for a couple of hours and laughing out loud”.

Although this show is based in North Beach, it has made an impact on other countries and events. For example, some of Beach Blanket Babylon’s history includes: a performance before Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, an appearance with the San Francisco Opera and a performance on the Academy Awards.

Beach Blanket Babylon follows the main character of Snow White as the narrator of the show. She’s looking for love, searching for her “Prince” and meets charactertures of pop culture icons such as Senator Barack & Michelle Obama, the Village people, Madonna and Elvis, Jonas Brothers, Amy Winehouse, Oprah Winfrey and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Can any of these pop and political figures help Snow White find her Prince? Well, audiences leave every night with the answer.

After watching the show, one audience member (who was visiting from North Carolina) described the show as, “Silly fun with amazing costumes and very talented actors. If you come to the show, you will be entertained by pop culture.” Material of the show changes every couple of years, so audiences will see a fresh show.

“Beach Blanket Babylon has become as much a part of San Francisco as the cable cars.
It should be filmed as a TV spectacular!” — Hollywood Reporter
