SWEET Wine & Food Festival
Spigolo's Pastry Team finishes their dessert for SWEET at La Venue

Last night's SWEET event at La Venue for the New York City Wine & Food Festival was a carnival of sugary sweets. Hosted by Food Network’s industrial-strength cake maker Duff Goldman (Ace Of Cakes) and featuring the creations of dozens of our favorite pastry chefs.

Before guests were even able to get in the door staffers were offering trays of chocolates from the event's presenter Godiva.

Inside the venue were tasting tables for no less than 32 fantastic New York City restaurants and their respective pastry chefs. To help all that chocolate go down servers were walking around with an endless flow of Champagne, Kahlua and cocktails featuring Absolut Vodka.

To top off the party atmosphere and help keep the people moving Brooklyn DJs Finger on the Pulse were there supplying the tunes. The brother duo, Terry D and DJ, were getting compliments all night including a thumbs-up from the big boss Lee Schrager (NYC Wine & Food Festival founder).

Winner of the Burger Bash judge's pick Chef Spike Mendelsohn was floating around enjoying the dessert and drinks. Also seen eating their way around the La Venue was Kelly Rutherford, Chef Guy Fieri and the host Duff Goldman.  Duff professed his love for sweets with sound bites "a meal is the first course and then dessert. Everything in between is whatever."

Highlights of the tasting area definitely included the newly 3 Michelin Star Daniel (Pastry Chef Dominique Ansel) with a light and refreshing apple pie dish. Mario Batali's Del Posto (Pastry Chef Brooks Headley) also had a fantastic idea with a delicious and portable Chocolate & Olive Oil Bastoncino. Hotel Griffou was passing out Pastry Chef Anne Thornton's top notch creamy Banana Pudding Pie in a miniature tin foil bowl.
