Danny Meyer, founder of the Union Square Hospitality Group, shared how his Madison Square Park masterpiece Shake Shack came to fruition with Big Think.
Watch the video of his explanation below!
Shake Shack opened up in 2004 and quickly became a must go for New Yorkers and tourist alike. A number of visitors guides reference the shack as the perfect lunch spot for family or friends with it's outdoor seating in the park.
The popular spot and it's trademark, the Shakeburger, has become such a craze that the hungry masses will often stretch around the block. They've even set up a Shack Cam on their site so you moniter the line and plan your visit accordingly.
Shake Shack recently became a fixture on the menu of the new Citi Field when Meyer was put in charge of concessions at the new Mets base camp. Called Taste of the City, Shake Shack joins other culinary landmarks like Blue Smoke, Box Frites, El Verano Taqueria and others in the Citi experience. I wrote an article on the food at the ballpark here (including Taste of the City and the Delta Sky360 lounge).
Shake Shack is located in the Southeast corner of Madison Square Park, near Madison Ave. and East 23rd Street. The hours are 11 am to 11 pm, to get more information visit their website here.
