Biggest Loser has become like a meat-and-potatoes staple of reality TV: you know that you'll see Bob Harper's aw-shucks grin; you can guarantee you'll experience a "WOW, that person has lost weight!" before-and-after scene; and you'll somehow experience a feeling of virtue just for watching it (for most of us, viewing the Biggest Loser tough love training style of Jillian Michaels keeps us from digging into the Death by Chocolate ice cream during the commercials).
Now, though, an intriguing quote from cast-off contestant Shay offers a different concept: maybe the REAL contest should be how well contestants fare after they leave the ranch. An interviewer for E! online quotes Shay as saying about her life at home: "Sometimes, I think, 'Why can't this be like the ranch?' But the reality is that the ranch is not reality. I've changed my lifestyle." And that's the REAL challenge!
