Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, and the other Twilight saga stars' popularity reveal our culture's obsession with young, "perfect" celebrities, according to the author of Love Your Body, Love Your Life: 5 Steps to End Negative Body Obsession and Start Living Happily and Confidently.
Twilight hunks Rob and Taylor are both muscular, while Kristen Stewart is slender, and author Sarah Maria says both body types appeal to those obsessed with "the notion of celebrity perfection." The movie series also "is indicative of the intense and powerful love that many people long to experience - the love that overtakes you completely so that all of your problems seem to magically disappear in the warmth of your lover's embrace," says Sarah.
The Twilight saga and other films with "airbrushed images and sexy camera angles effortlessly create the illusion that celebrities are somehow more perfect than the average person," the author notes. In reality, however, Sarah emphasizes that "anyone can discover the greatness that lies within their heart and soul....Then they no longer need to live obsessed with whether a celebrity has lost or gained weight."
