For a while, fellow Christian writer Phil Tomasso III (aka Thomas Phillips) and I hosted a writing group we called The Inkspots and Coffee Grounds. While it wasn't a Christian group, we ironically drew several Christian writers who met with us every month to support each other in our writing endeavors. (Translation: creative group therapy.)

While the group has since disbanded, we do keep in touch, and this week I got a note from one of our members, Robin Deissinger, who several months ago moved to Utah. While Robin has mostly shared her fiction with us, this essay, Being Lutheran Isn't Always Easy, is a great reminder to not take for granted what you believe - and why - no matter what your religious denomination. As 1 Peter 3:15 says, "... always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you ..."
