In Houston, it's almost too hot to wear clothes during the summer, so this year, why don't you give them up altogether?

If your summer dresses are still too hot, it's time to slither into a garment that's more lightweight and feels cooler against your skin: the slip.

It's questionable how often full slips are worn anymore underneath regular clothes, and if you still group them together with flesh-colored panty hose and corsets, you're the one who's out of date.

Lingerie as outerwear is coming back in style, but it's not as scandalous as you might think. A simple, patterned silk slip looks much like a cool sundress anyway, and chances are, the only one who will know you bought it in the lingerie department is you. Wear it with strappy sandals and pretty jewelry to make it look more like an outfit, or add a belt for more structure.

You can also layer slips if they're too sheer by themselves, but it's even too hot for that here in Houston.
