Martinique received the most votes in an online survey conducted by Caribbean Travel + Life Magazine asking readers to name their favorite Caribbean destination for delectable dining. Of the 807 votes cast over the one-month survey period, Martinique came out on top, with 43.8% of the votes.
The island is best known for its traditional French
cuisine combined with a Creole flair. Visitors enjoy Martinique's Creole culinary creations that artfully blend African, Indian, European and Caribbean flavors.
The Caribbean Travel + Life honor is a follow up to Martinique being named "Best Gourmet Island of the Year" in November 2008 by Caribbean World Magazine.
Martinique is located in the eastern Caribbean Sea in the Windward Islands of the West Indies. The island is situated between Dominica and St Lucia and is considered to be an overseas region of France. It is popularly known as “a little bit of France in the Caribbean.”

Taking second place honors in the Caribbean Travel + Life survey, with 28.87% of the vote, was St. Martin, the French side of the dual-nation island, St. Maarten/St. Martin. St. Martin’s Grand Case area is well-known as a gourmet capital of the Caribbean.
