Last month, I inaugurated a featured called "Dynamic Duos." The concept is simple enough:
Inveterate jazz fans know YouTube can be a fantastic resource for seeing/hearing your favorite artists. There’s plenty of vintage video (much of it from European television broadcasts) as well slideshows that provide visual elements to underscore a favorite tune.
That said, it’s still fairly rare to find videos in which two jazz giants that ordinarily do not play together share the same stage. Rarer still are clips in which the aforementioned artists play the same instrument. "Dynamic Duos" will be a periodic round up of just such clips.
We featured some mighty sax players last time, including a blistering John Coltrane-Stan Getz duet. This time out, let’s spotlight some bluesy piano with Oscar Peterson and Count Basie.
