One of Washington's must-sees is more affordable for families this holiday season. Kids are free at the Newseum from now until January 4th.

Those who think of the Newseum as just a shrine for media lovers haven't been yet. Sure, there are walls of newspaper front pages and live news channel feeds. You'd expect that. But there is also a three-story original East German guard tower, a twisted steel column from the World Trade Center, and a Sports Theater with news clips of sports' most memorable (and laughable) moments over the last century.

So take your kids, and do it before January 4, 2009. During the Family Fun Deal, each paying adult may bring three children aged seven to 18 for free.

Admission rates:

  • Adults (19 to 64): $20
  • Seniors, students, and military: $18
  • Kids (7-18): Free until January 4th. After that, they cost $13 each.
  • Children (6 and younger): Free

Where: 555 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC

Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm daily (closed New Year's Day)

Nearest Metro stops: Judiciary Square on the red line, or Archives/Navy Memorial on the green and yellow lines

The Newseum. The Website does not mention the Family Fun Deal. (I got the scoop from an ad in the Washington Post). Call (888) NEWSEUM for more details.
