The Trumpet of the Swan at the Kennedy Center
Take your children to a symphonic production, and be confident they will actually LIKE it! The stage adaptation of E.B. White’s classic children’s novel will premiere at the Kennedy Center in December.
The Trumpet of the Swan is about a swan who cannot honk because he is mute. When he falls in love with another swan, he doesn't know how to tell her his feelings. So his father gives him a trumpet, and you can guess the ending. (The book has more to it, by the way.)
The musical is geared toward children ages seven and older. It is only 60 minutes long, well within the attention span of most elementary-aged kids.
