I have compiled a short list of museums in the state of Pennsylvania that are worth visiting if you're taking a road trip and it is on your way. I got these museums from a list on wikipedia. Betsy Ross House, wikipedia.org

-1719 Hans Herr House & Museum in Pennsylvania Dutch Country (Lancaster, PA): the oldest Pennsylvania German settlement still in existence today. The house is located at 1849 Hans Herr Drive in Willow Street, Pennsylvania. The Herr family came to the US by arranging terms with William Penn in the early 1700s due to severe religious persecution in Switzerland and Germany.

-Abington Art Center, in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia, PA is a contemporary art museum. The Abington Art Center has exhibition galleries and a 27 acres of lawn and woods that make up a sculpture park. The Art Center holds many education programs and public events at its Jenkintown, Pennsylvania cultural campus.

-The Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. It is the oldest natural science research institution and museum in the New World, founded in 1812 with a mission of "the encouragement and cultivation of the sciences."

-The ACES Museum in Philadelphia. It is a military museum that honors the heroes of World War II, whether veterans or at home, of all races and sex.

-The Adams County Historical Society Museum in Gettysburg. This local history museum is located on the grounds of Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.

-African American Museum in Philadelphia, established in 1976 in Philadelphia. The museum currently has four galleries and an auditorium, each of which offers exhibitions anchored on one of three dominant themes: The African Diaspora, the Philadelphia Story, and the Contemporary Narrative. It was formerly known as Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum.

-American Jewish Museum in Pittsburgh explores contemporary Jewish art with programs that facilitate dialogue about art, philosophy, and culture. Melissa Hiller is the American Jewish Museum Director.

-American Museum of Veterinary Medicine in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania Dutch Country. It's a medical museum which explores medicine, instruments, equipment, text books and literature from more than a hundred years of veterinary history.

-Baker-Dungan Museum in Beaver County. This is a local history museum which is part of part of Penn State Beaver.

-Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia, not foar from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. It is generally recognized as the place where she lived and possibly made the first American flag.

 

Caroline Ydstie, Gate Entrance to Frick park

-Da Vinci Science Center, a science museum in Allentown.

-Fallingwater in the Bear Run area of Pittsburgh Metro Area. It is also known as the Edgar J. Kaufmann Sr. Residence and was designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

-Living Loft Puppet Museum features many of the giant puppets used by the theater. It is located in Philadelphi and and is one of the creations of the Spiral Q Puppet Theater. The Puppet museum is open by appointment.

-Museum of Indian Culture is an educational center located in the Lehigh parkway in Allentown, PA. It was founded in 1980 and is dedicated to presenting, preserving, and pertuating the history of Northeastern Woodland Indian cultures.
