Paper crafts are popular, there’s no denying it. And if grown-ups love paper crafts (one estimate purports there are over 25 million Americans who consider themselves scrapbookers), it only stands to reason that kids love paper crafts, too.
The Internet has become a haven for creative types to strut their stuff in blogs and sites devoted to paper crafts, and all those scrapbookers love to see what’s hot – and to admire the fabulous creations made by hundreds of stellar paper artists. There are many sites dedicated to helping kids learn to enjoy the hobby, to experience the joy of turning paper and glue into a work of art, and in finding self-esteem in creating. Sites like Kaboose, Enchanted Learning and Suite 101 all offer a myriad of ideas for kids to get their hands on some paper made fun.
But don’t think kids’ websites are the only place to find inspiration. Only this afternoon a grandmother found a sample of a Christmas card using a rubber stamp she recently purchased for her granddaughter. The original use for the stamp is to create Christmas thank you notes, but this sample motivated them to create a holiday greeting card. Stampin' Pretty's creator, Mary Fish, provided the inspiration for Macy to pick up her scissors, tape runner, ink pad and rubber stamps. She and her grandmother spent an afternoon together creating many memories they’ll share for a lifetime.
Don’t forget to nurture the joys of creativity with the kids in your life.
