Strawberries are the perfect "red" for your red, white, and blue celebration.

It feels like October out there, and I'm hardly complaining as a Canuck who can't handle too many of those "triple h" days.  Hazy, hot and humid reminds us that it is Summer and July 4th is fast approaching.  Since we didn't get the weather memo that Summer was here you may haver forgotten to plan your weekend bbq.  If so, don't panic, there are many others who have been preparing.

Upstairs on the Square will be grilling out front on July 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  They will have steak, ribs, chicken and corn on their new grill and will be in front of the Upstairs on the Square door on Winthrop Street.  For an outdoor seat on their new French bistro furniture and comfy wicker chairs, be sure to arrive early.  On the 4th, step into the Monday Club after 8:30 for an evening of with the Mid-Life Crisis Jazz band and a special appearance by  vocalist Judith Murray "all American" jazz.  For reservations just call (617) 864-1933.

Wilson's Farm always has everything and anything you need for your holiday bbq.  I don't tend to buy a lot of meat there, but it is available.  From flowers, to strawberry shortcakes, their own local fruits and veggies and some fabulous condiments made in New England.

Bakers' Best is another favourite stop if I'm too busy, uninspired or just don't feel like cooking. Their summer menu will be available starting June 29th and the menu includes some of everyone's picnic favourites.

If you want to tie on your red gingham apron over your blue jeans, gather the children at the kitchen counter to start snapping green beans, and cook, then take a minute to get inspired.  This video "collage" of sorts on Good Bite has some great recipes, stories and tips shared by David LebovitzJeanne Kelley, Todd Porter & Diane Cu, and Tracy Metro

Let the fireworks begin. With some of 51 Lincoln's
fabulous flavours and classic dishes no additional
pomp or circumstance is needed.
