Some of us are just looking for a date night out at a nice restaurant without breaking the bank.  Others are planning birthday parties and trying to stay within the budget.  You know the commercial, "There's an app for that".  Well it isn't quite an app, but there are some great discount sites and groups to buy food lately.

Groupon

Groupon allows you to buy anything from massages and spa days to restaurant coupons at a discount (usually significant discount).  To find out what groupons are in Boston, just visit their site.  For updates on the latest groupon, just sign up online.  Be sure to read the fine print and if you are not familiar with the location, cross check the restaurant on yelp.com, chowhound or zagat.

restaurant.com is just restaurants and you can choose by location, so whether you are going to be in town or out of town for date night you can find some good deals.  These gift certificates can be used 1/restaurant/month.  If you have a regular lunch or dinner spot this can be a great deal.  Or, if you are looking for a little incentive for a night out at a new place it is definitely worth it.

opentable.com

You may already use opentable for your dinner reservations, but you are also earning points when you dine out.  Reservations can be made in the US, UK and Canada.  Locally, at the moment you can earn 1,000 points when you dine out at some fabulous venues including, Aura, Bina Osteria, 51 Lincoln, Brant Point Grille, Casablanca, The Elephant Walk, EVOO, Grafton Street Pub, Rialto, and Sandrine's.
