Andrew Bird Live at Largo at the Coronet

A fierce battle involving imperative precision and stacks of one-take perfections was won by
Andrew Bird’s sold out performance last night at
Largo at the Coronet.
The polyrhythmic loops that are rooted in Bird’s
pizzicato style make a linear solo performance seem like a walk in the park. Songs from Bird’s new album “
Armchair Apocrypha” were covered as well as some newly finished work off Noble Beast which is scheduled to hit stores January 27, 2009. A couple of the songs from his set included some forgivable mistakes but didn’t hinder the relentless perseverance by Bird to start and finish the song to his standard of predilection.
Prior to his performance, sounds from his rehearsal backstage caught the ear of special guest
Haley Bonar who light-heartedly addressed her dismay to Bird’s failed attendance to her set.
Although both performances at Largo at the Coronet are sold out, a film by Andrew van Baal titled
Largo includes performances by Andrew BIrd and many other noteworthy artists. Also check out the music column Andrew writes for in
