Last night's debate was not particularly astounding. Neither Menino nor Flaherty were incredibly wowing. However, I was a bit impressed with Flaherty's ability to seemingly think on his feet, and he presented himself as being just as, if not more, knowledgeable than Menino. Menino also seemed to take a bit of a battering when it came to schools, at least in the eyes of many of the respondents on wgbh.org's liveblogging tool available during the debate.
Flaherty seems to have won on points, but didn't appear to change the dynamic of the race like he needed to if he wanted a fair shot at taking down a 16 year incumbent. Flaherty, it seems, has an incredibly tough road ahead of him if he wants to win this race.
What do you think? Who do you think won the debate? Do you know who you'll be voting for? Why?
