Seven reasons why you should be scrapbooking
There are those of you who do not consider yourselves the crafty type. You think you cannot scrapbook. Maybe you think you are not creative enough, or it’s too hard, or worse too expensive. Well you are, it isn’t, and it doesn’t have to be. To prove it, the following are seven reasons why you should be scrapbooking.
- You can’t trust the Internet to keep up with your stuff. I know what you are thinking, “In this digital age I can upload pics to my blog or networking site and pull them up whenever I want.” Maybe not. No website or company is guaranteed permanent. This year alone, I have had two or three messages from Internet sites that are closing certain features and telling me to come my get stuff or it will be lost forever.
- Scrapbooking protects your memories. Using acid free, photo safe supplies, and photo protectors keep your pictures safe. No need to take them to the local photo booth 15 years from now to get them restored. Pull those pics out of that shoebox and get cropping.
- Photo albums don’t tell the whole story. Some people think slapping their photos in an album is good enough. But how will everyone know what you were thinking on that day, or what led up to this perfect shot? The journaling, page colors, and accessory choices tell the full story and capture the mood of times gone by.
- It is fun! Putting together albums takes time, but it is time well spent. Whether you do it alone or share it with a friend. The possibilities are endless, from paper to embellishments. You will look up and hours will have passed.
- All the cool stuff! If you were the type that loved school when you were a kid merely for the new school supplies, then have I got a hobby for you! There are all sorts of tools and supplies to suit your gadget fetish.
- You don’t have to be an artist. If you are a beginner, buy a page kit. Stick your pics where they suggest and fill in the journaling. You will become inspired. You will think to yourself, “I can do this!”
- Scrapbooks make great gifts. What grandmother doesn’t enjoy pictures of the grandkids? Since our kids were born, we haven’t had to worry about a Mother’s day, Birthday, or Christmas gift. If it got our kids on it, it’s gold!
I challenge you to think of a reason you shouldn’t be scrapbooking. There just isn’t any. Reward yourself and begin cataloging your photos in a creative and meaningful way so that you can pass your memories on and share them for years to come.
