For those of you that enjoy classical chamber music, this Saturday there is a concert that you will not want to miss. The Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra is having a "Mostly Mozart" concert on Saturday, November 7, 7:30 pm, at the Mountain View United Methodist Church (355 Ponca Place, Boulder, CO). There will be a pre-concert talk at 6:30 pm to give the audience a better perspective on the pieces that will be performed.
CU faculty clarinetist Daniel Silver joins Pro Musica for his interpretation of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. Also on the program are Mozart's Symphony No. 27, Jennifer Higdon's Celebration Fanfare, and Musica Celestis by Aaron Kernis.
Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto is one of his last completed works, written for his friend Anton Stadler, a very distinguished musician. “In this piece, we hear Mozart in his prime, writing in the most inspired way for a special musician and friend,” says Cynthia Katsarelis, Music Director and Conductor of Pro Musica Colorado. “We are so delighted to be joined by clarinetist Daniel Silver. Dan has the broadest range of musical expression, which is ideal for the Mozart Clarinet Concerto.”
