UPDATE: Pearl Jam has added two more shows at the Spectrum on October 27th and 31st!

The news comes one month after the original tour announcement was made and also includes additional single shows in Salt Lake City, Portland and Vancouver.  The two new Philly shows, taking place October 27th and 31st, bookend the two sold out shows on October 28th and 30th.  According to Philly.com, Pearl Jam will be the last band to play at the Spectrum before the building is torn down (http://www.philly.com/inquirer/magazine/50935732.html).

Tickets for the new shows will go on public sale Friday August 14 at 10AM, at comcasttix.com.  The pre-sale for Ten Club members will take place Wednesday August 12 at 12PM for the October 31st show and 2PM for the October 27th show.  As of now, no opening act has been scheduled for the Philadelphia shows.

ORIGINAL POST:

After months of speculation and rumors, it was announced today that Pearl Jam is indeed coming to Philadelphia this fall to play two final shows at the Spectrum before the building is torn down.  The band has played at the Spectrum numerous times throughout its career and always mentioned their love and appreciation for the venue when playing there, so when it was announced that the landmark venue is being torn down at the end of the year, many fans hoped the band would return one last time.  The timing is perfect, as Pearl Jam is touring this fall in support of their next album, Backspacer, scheduled for release in September.

The brief tour that was announced today will kick off in Seattle, the band's hometown, on September 21.  The only other stops are in Los Angeles and San Diego before they come to Philadelphia for two shows on October 28th and 30th, but there is a note on the website that additional dates could potentially be announced in the future.  Tickets for the Philly shows will be on sale for Ten Club members on July 15th and for the general public on July 17th, and will most likely sell out within minutes.  One thing we can be sure about is that the band is going to go all out for these shows and give the Spectrum the farewell it deserves.

2009 North American Tour Dates:

September 21, 22 - Seattle WA, Key Arena

September 30, October 1, 6, 7 - Los Angeles CA, Gibson Amphitheatre

October 9 - San Diego CA, Viejas Arena

October 28, 30 - Philadelphia PA, Spectrum
