Happy birthday to Sir Christopher Wren!.jpg)
The English architect and astronomer was born October 20, 1632.
Wren designed dozens of buildings throughout England after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Included among them are the Greenwich Hospital, St. Mary Le Bow, and the Monument to the Great Fire.
Wren's most noted building is St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Designed in Classical and Baroque forms typical of revival architecture, St. Paul's holds the traditional Latin cross plan with a long nave, transept, and large choir.
