To launch the new Paranormal Pop Culture Examiner section, I'll be joining the TAPS crew from the SCI FI Channel's "Ghost Hunters" at historic Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 27, from 9 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Watch this space as I meet with Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson, Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango and Kris Williams, along with demonologist John Zaffis and psychic Gavin Cromwell while we join local paranormal enthusiasts to investigate this Revolutionary War fort.
I'll be taking questions for the team, uploading photos and keeping you posted on all the haunted activity at the landmark that's known as the "Fort that Saved America."
Hawes and Wilson formed the paranormal investigative group in 1990, and have employed gadgets and a scientific method to explore, debunk and validate claims of activity ever since. The show, which airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m., debuted in 2004 and typically attracts close to three million viewers each week. It's also spawned a spinoff, "Ghost Hunters International" and the upcoming "Ghost Hunters: New Generation."
The group first investigated the fort for a 2008 episode, and since then Mifflin has experienced a 40 percent increase in visitors, says Executive Director Lee Anderson. The TAPS team will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the event tonight to fund the site's programs for up to four months.
So whether you're a fan of the show, or want to learn a little history about this landmark, start checking this space at 9 p.m. I'll be taking questions frequently, and also updating you from the field at Twitter (@aaronsagers)
Can't wait to see you see me get spooked.
