The dog days of summer are upon us, and the theatrical pickings are slightly slimmer than they are the rest of the year (but only slightly!, there’sstill lots of great stuff playing.

Washington Shakespeare Company finally gets a new home! The scrappy theatre company will finally move out of its Clark Street digs, home for the last dozen or so years, and move into a renovated space at the former Rosslyn Newseum site. The space, called Art Space for Everyone (ASE) will include a ballroom, a WiFi town square, a Busboys and Poets, a gallery, and Washington Shakespeare Company (WSC) as the resident theater in the center's black box.
Forum Theatre is kicking off its 2009–10 season with a 1920s-style Speakeasy benefit. Join Forum for cocktails, heavy hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, and more on Thursday, September 24 at 7:00 pm at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, 1526 14th Street, NW. Guests will enjoy a special insider introduction to Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, the first production of Forum’s 2009–10 season. Angels kicks off Forum’s two-year stint as the first company in residence at the 150-seat Round House Silver Spring. The Pulitzer Prize–winning two-parter—considered by many the greatest American play of the past 25 years—will be directed by Michael Dove and Jeremy Skidmore and performed by some of DC’s most talented actors, including Ro Boddie, Daniel Eichner, Nanna Ingvarsson, Jim Jorgensen, Jennifer Mendenhall, Karl Miller, Casie Platt, and Forum company member Alexander Strain.
