Give me a sweater this time of year and I'll snatch it up with the quickness. What girl wouldn't want something soft and cozy to keep warm in the schizophrenically troubled weather. One minute it feels like a warm sunny afternoon in early summer then the weather turns into a dreary day in London. As romantic as fall is, you can't leave your daily outfits to chance. Bundling up for work and an evening out is a must, especially if you want to avoid the sniffles. So what better way to look chic and fabulous than in this season's must have chilly weather items.
Cardigans will forever be in style with J.Crew always stocking up for those prepsters and Michelle Obama types (no offense here). Cardigans are multi-purpose items that every gal must have in her closet. I prefer the cashmere kind myself because I do love to get cozy in soft plushy fabrics instead of the itchy wool. Yuck! I know what you're thinking, "God this girl is a snob."
No ladies! Cashmere is a must have in your closet and here's why. I hate having to scratch my body every second when wool and angora sweaters touch my body. They are itchy, smell too chemical for me and frankly not an affordable route since a lot of them fall apart easily. Cashmere sweaters, if treated properly will last for a long time. Not all of us have Loro Piana and Piazza Sempione cash to spend on that plus and soft cashmere cardigan. Kudos to you if you can. For the rest of us, regular folks, cashmere cardigans and sweaters are within reach.
If you don't care about labels, Kohl's Apt. 9 brand offers fabulously soft cashmere sweaters for under $70. J.Crew cashmere, which I stock up on during end of season sales (yes I love wearing out of season cardigans and sweaters because they are timeless). Regular cashmere at J.Crew can run upwards of $300. Then there are the Marc Jacobs, Valentinos and DKNYs of the fashion world who will cover you with cashmere fit for a princess at a whopping price of more than $1000.
