Anti-nausea drug safe for use during pregnancy

With up to 80 percent of pregnant women suffering from morning sickness during their first trimester, it is exciting to hear of the new anti-nausea drug that has been deemed safe for use by pregnant women.
According to Science Daily, in a study conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine, metoclopramide, which has been used widely in Europe and Israel to treat severe nausea, appears to have no significant affect on an unborn fetus.
After analyzing nearly 3500 babies who were born between 1998 and 2007, the rate of birth defects of babies born to mothers who used the anti-nausea drug was equal to those who did not use the medication. Also, the length of time the women used the drug did not affect the rate of abnormalities, nor did it increase the risk of low birth weight, premature delivery, or fetal death.
