Annie's Café & Bar at Congress and 4th St.

The place is a bartender's paradise.

At the end of a long stressful day, Annie's Café & Bar is a bright and cheerful. Everything feels crisp and clean, from the bartenders' shirts to the savory truffle fries. The drinks are perfectly chilled and well balanced, and the food is piping hot and gorgeous. This place is exactly what you need to unwind.

It takes a lot of skill to invent balanced and refined original cocktails while upholding and respecting classic cocktails with such finesse. Several local heroes (such as Bill Norris of FINO and David Allen of Tipsy Texan) collaborated to create a collection of original and classic cocktails that are helping to bring back classy drinking culture.

Go for happy hour and sit at the bar, or enjoy being served at a table--either way, try as many different drinks and snacks as you can. The truffle fries and roasted vegetable pizza were delightful.

During Happy Hour (4-7), select cocktails are $5 and they have a special $5 appetizer list. Here are some of our favorite cocktails:

The Monkey Gland
Sazerac 6 y.o. Rye Whiskey, Peychaud’s Bitters, Sugar, Absinthe

Beautifully orange-colored, sweet, light, and bitter perfection.

The Moscow Mule
Tito’s Vodka, Fresh Lime, Ginger Beer

Crisp, spicy, goes down easy.

The Sazerac
Sazerac 6 y.o. Rye Whiskey, Peychaud’s Bitters, Sugar, Absinthe

Classic, delicious, smooth.

Aviation Cocktail
Gin, Maraschino Liquor, Creme de Violette, Lemon

Light, cheerful, beautiful color. Probably the most well-balanced Aviation I've had. Ever.

Old Austin

Wild Turkey Straight Rye, Pecan, Lemon and Orange Peel, Whisky Barrel Aged Bitters

This is most likely my favorite rye drink in town right now, possibly my favorite rye drink ever. Allows you to hold on to summer while embracing the coming fall, and warms the belly and the soul.
