Hey Sioux Falls!

The saga of Ms. Semenya is almost complete. There are enough writers currently throwing information around that contradicts the next one. Some have reported that the IAAF has received the gender test results (which they have) and will not release any information until further investigation over the next two weeks.

The International Association of Athletics Federations will release the results of gender tests conducted on the South African 800-meter female world champion, Caster Semenya, once other experts have reviewed them and the athlete has been informed, Beeld reported.

The results will be analyzed and interpreted by experts over the next two weeks and the International Association of Athletics Federations plans to discuss them with the 18-year-old runner, spokesman Nick Davies said in an e-mail.

“Caster Semenya is willing to speak to the IAAF about the results,” Davies said. “Results will not be released without speaking to her. That is certain.”

However, 3 authors and 2 articles from The Sun decided to claim information that must have leaked or has been made up. This cannot be concluded at the moment and this is not an attack at their journalism; the situation just seems ill gotten. If these results were released it would be headline news on most internet sites.

Quoting Lynsey Haywood

"She may have rather high levels of male hormones, but she is definitely a woman."

Reports have suggested Semenya's body could contain up to three times the normal amount of testosterone for a woman.

Lynsey did make huge claims in her article, but did argue that she was within official limits for a woman. Virginia and Harry did not seem to hold back much information that apperantly everyone should have known.

Quoting Virginia Wheeler and Harry Haydon

South African gold-medallist Semenya, 18, has both male and female organs, it was claimed.

And sources close to the International Association of Athletics Federations — who ordered extensive tests on the teen after her amazing 800m win at the World Athletics Championships last month — say the results mean she could still be stripped of her medal.

Semenya is claimed to have NO womb or ovaries — and has internal testes, the male sexual organs which produce testosterone.

The end product of this news is a discussion that will be argued for a while to come. What defines a woman or a man? What are the limits with these definitions if it was not the choice of the man or the woman to be different than normal? What catagories should exist in competition or should any at all? Are women truly less gifted in athletics than men or is this trend going to close once women have been given the time to compete? If Caster has a vagina and is within official testosterone limits to be a women in the Olympics shouldn't this be enough? Does it matter that she does not have ovaries? Most importantly, what about Caster Semenya? This little girl is having to face a terrible fact if all of this is true, and that fact maybe a lie to her. She will need support; especially if the IAAF decides to grab the medal off of HER neck.
