The Yoga Soul Center, now open in Eagan, is a full-service yoga studio that is geared exclusively to traditional yoga, Pilates, and Reiki Energy Healing. The grand opening is January 16th. My chakras are tingling with glee.
I’ve been doing yoga for exactly one year now at the Eagan Community Center. My physical therapist recommended it after my latest ACL reconstruction to help strengthen the muscles around my knees to prevent further injury, and, to improve balance and core strength.
The Eagan Community Center has an excellent yoga instructor, but the facility isn’t really conducive to finding my openness and inner stillness. The classes are only offered twice a week. The room is arctic. The sound of bouncing basketballs reverberates off the walls from the court downstairs. Don’t even get me started on the voyeuristic populace that stares through the window while I’m compressed in Eagle pose.
After completing a one-week pass at the Yoga Soul Center in December, I can say with absolute sincerity that this is the yoga experience of my nocturnal imaginings. The room is warm and affectionate. Candles provide ambient light and soothe the soul. Aromatic incense pleases my senses. Nobody flattens their face to the window for the peep show. This is a crib where I can find my openness and inner stillness. Awaken my consciousness. Maybe even get my prana working. So much of the yoga experience has to do with the instructors, and the instructors here are excellent and highly trained to guide you on your yoga journey.
The grand opening is Friday, January 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They’ll have free gourmet vegetarian food, Kirtan music, tea, etc. The festivities continue into Saturday and Sunday. Your first class is free.
We all need good flexibility, balance, and core strength to prevent injuries. Whether your recreational pursuits are working out in a gym, or outside on the hiking trails, bike paths, or ski slopes, yoga’s benefits are far-reaching.
Namaste.
