My friend Natalie and I skied Welch Village today. Welch Village is located in…well, Welch Village, an easy forty minutes south of the Twin Cities. On December 26th, that’s two days from now, they are opening a new Back Bowl to make Welch Village even better.
If skiing in bowls sounds as appealing as a bikini wax without an adequate dose of Jack Daniels, there are still plenty of greens, blues, blacks and a couple double blacks to ski and ride. Natalie’s favorite black run was Chicken; mine was Chicken Out which veers off Chicken and connects to saner, less steep blue run.
You can purchase an all-day flex pass for $45 but if you turn in your pass within four hours, you get a $10 gift card. You can use it towards your next lift ticket, in the restaurant, or the gear shop. If you’re not a skier or boarder, and don’t play one on TV, but have thought about learning, Welch is a great place to do it.
In the mean time, have a great Christmas everyone. Since my husband is working all through Christmas, and I have the rest of the week off, I’m headed out west to Telluride, CO for the sweet stuff. That’s why I skied Chicken Out. I didn’t want to…you know, overdo it before the big ski trip.
