Sweet, meet savory. In my stomach.

Let's face it: every now and then, we've all found ourselves staring at the pantry, contemplating combining lasagna noodles and raisins. I try not to let my reserves get so dangerously low (and I don't even like raisins), but I'll admit that more often than not I depend on packaged meals to get me through the week.

But living out of a box doesn't mean you can't enjoy full-flavored meals. A little leftover bacon can pep up even the saddest pre-packaged dish.

Macaroni and Cheese

Sure, there are recipes for making your own baked bacon mac & cheese—recipes that involve fresh pasta and sharp cheddar cheese, and, you know, an oven—but there's no shame in picking the blue box now and then. Pep up your Easy Mac with a strip or two of cooked bacon crumbled into the mix.

Frozen Patty

Whether you're defrosting a frozen burger or a Spicy Chik'n Patty, tossing a couple strips of bacon on top can turn a sad Monday night dinner into at-home gourmet. (Reminiscent of the Channel Cafe's “cheater”--a veggie burger with bacon and cheese--I like to dress up my fake meat with some actual meat. If Boca only knew how much this meat-eater loves their products! Try SCP with a little mayo, some pepperoncinis, sharp cheddar and Frank's Red Hot. ...And some bacon crumbles, naturally.)

Cinnamon Rolls

The internet just can't seem to get enough of the idea of combining bacon and cinnamon rolls. They taste good together for Sunday breakfast, so why not go all the way, right? I'm still working on perfecting my recipe, but when I'm feeling lazy I like to garnish the pre-packaged variety with a few bacon bits on top. Stick them into the dough before those babies go in the oven, bake, frost, and you've got yourself one savory cinnamon roll.
