Nintendo has always been one of the most successful companies on the software side of things. With the Wii selling over a half a million units every month in North America, it should be no surprise that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will likely be one of the top selling games of 2009. EEDAR is now predicting that the game will sell over 15 million copies over the course of lifetime sales worldwide. This year, the only game expected to surpass the total sales of NSMB Wii will be the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. With each title likely to sell well over a million copies in their opening weeks, the November sales numbers should be staggering when they are released in early-December. Though, it's likely we'll see some press releases talking about the amazing launches for both titles.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 saw release today, while Nintendo will be releasing Mario this Sunday on November 15th. With each game catering to different audiences, the race for the best selling game of 2009 should be quite interesting.
